Gary donates his winnings to the Woodland Trust
As Clerk for Moreton Pinkney Parish Council, Gary Denby was certainly not expecting to win John Lewis vouchers in the latest RTM Landscapes Customer Survey draw.
When he did, however, he immediately chose to donate his winnings to the Woodland Trust, the charity which plants trees and protects woods to create havens for wildlife all over the UK.
Gary is centre in the photo, receiving his donation confirmation from Director Tan Samuels. With Gary on the right is Andrew Jalland, Chairman of the Moreton Pinkney Parish Council.
Amazingly, the Woodland Trust has:
• Planted more than 43 million trees since they began in 1972;
• Saved 1,089 woods with help from the public in the last ten years;
• Revived 34,000 hectares of ancient woodland
Tan commented
“It was an honour to deliver some good news to Gary! His generosity has benefited a very deserving charity and it’s surprising to see just how many woods there are around us, and how many of those are managed by the Woodland Trust.”
See which woods are near you here.
Congratulations to Gary and the Woodland Trust!
