Extra gifts for San José school
No one expects to win a prize draw! Sally Firth, from Stony Stratford Town Council, was as surprised as anyone to get a call with the news that she’d won £100 of John Lewis vouchers in the RTM Landscapes Customer Survey draw.
In an inspiring twist, however, Sally is about to embark upon a year’s travel and education adventure with her husband and 7 year old son. As part of the trip, Sally will be making donations to various projects along the way through the amazing non-profit Pack for a Purpose and plans to use her vouchers for that.
Their mission is to positively impact communities around the world by assisting travellers who want to take meaningful contributions to the destinations they visit. The supply lists for destinations are provided directly by the local community-based projects that receive and use the supplies, enabling travellers to make informed decisions and to take items that meet the needs of those who will be using them.
Sally will be starting with simple things like pencils, rubbers, rulers and books for a school in San José, Costa Rica; a far cry from Stony Stratford! Sally said “I’m really excited to be able to fund additional supplies to some of the projects we’ll be helping along the way. It’s really important, especially for my son, to understand the difficulties faced by some communities in accessing what we consider to be fairly basic requirements.”
