Best Kept Village Awarded to Oving Parish Council
30 villagers and 8 judges turned out at the Village Green on September 16th to witness the presentation to Oving of two major awards in the Best Kept Village competition.
Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Sir Henry Aubrey Fletcher, presented them with the Gurney Cup, a beautiful silver trophy which has been given to the
winning village (with under 500 population) for 60 years. Oving last won it in 1960.
He also presented them with a special award in the form of a silver plaque which recognises Community Spirit and which is only given to one village in Bucks in any one year.
